What is USB direct printing?
USB direct printing lets an iPad photo booth send photos straight to a dye-sublimation printer through a USB connection, removing the separate print server that traditional setups rely on. With Curator, your iPad connects directly to DNP, Citizen, Mitsubishi, Sinfonia, SwiftFoto and HiTi printers, so there’s less hardware to carry, fewer points of failure, and faster prints at every event.
Ditch the print server
One less box to buy, carry, configure, and troubleshoot.
The old way
- Extra hardware to buy and transport
- More setup and network configuration
- Another point of failure mid-event
The Curator way
- Direct USB connection: nothing in between
- Faster to set up, fewer things to pack
- Rock-solid printing you can rely on

USB direct printing FAQ
Does USB direct printing work on an iPad?
Yes. Curator connects a supported DNP, Citizen, Mitsubishi, Sinfonia, SwiftFoto or HiTi dye-sublimation printer directly to your iPad over USB, so you can print photos at your event without a separate print server or computer.
Which printers does Curator support for direct printing?
Curator supports the DNP DS-RX1 / DS-RX1HS, DS620A, DS820A, QW410, DS40 and DS80; the Citizen CX-02, CX-02W, CW-01, CW-02 (OP900II) and CZ-01; the Mitsubishi CP-D70DW and CP-D707DW; the Sinfonia CS2 and CS3; the SwiftFoto KSF-10R; and the HiTi P525L. Every one is a professional dye-sublimation photo printer, and all of them print straight from the iPad over USB.
Do I still need a print server?
No. USB direct printing removes the print server entirely. Your iPad connects straight to the printer, which means less hardware to carry and one fewer thing that can fail during an event.
Can I use multiple printers and print sizes at once?
Yes. Curator can run multiple printers from a single iPad and supports multiple print sizes. You can route each print to the first available printer, or automatically by print size.
How do I know how many prints are left on a printer?
Curator tracks prints remaining since your last paper and ribbon change, and shows how many prints have already been produced, so you always know when it’s time to reload.
Can I reprint the last photo?
Yes. Curator shows the last photo sent to each printer and lets you resend or reprint it with a single tap.
